Instruction will focus on working in a sterile processing department and central service location, working as a team to maintain sterilization and storage, learning microbiology and infection control, and applying principles and practices of sterile processing and decontamination. You’ll be confident in your aseptic technique skills, along with your knowledge of medical and surgical terminology, surgical instruments, and documentation and record maintenance.
Upon completion, students will be able to take the certification exam for sterile processing technicians, offered by the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA).
